Firstly, I would like to say it is an honor to participate in the review process of Mr. X Moon masks. Thank you very much to Dreammask Studio(DMS) and Lord Kathrina for their fully support and I truly believe this is major breakthrough for all maskers in the Chinese Community.
At the beginning when DMS forum came into existence, there was not much information available. That being said, it was one of the sites that I visited every day as I appreciated the diversification of such forum, especially the fact that it being a main gateway for us Chinese maskers to communicate with each other.
There are many mask makers based in China who uses TaoBao to sell their products. Femask was the first mask that I purchased through TaoBao. With the Femask, as well as many other masks that I purchased afterwards, they gave me inspirations to create different poses and postures when taking photos and videos.At the beginning we may only care about the looks of the masks, but as we try out more masks and with more experience, we start to pay more attention on the comfort and visibility of the masks. There are many concerns to take into account before making a purchase of a new mask.
Now, let's talk about Mr. X Moon Mask. To be honest, I wasn't feeling impulsed to make the purchase, even after reading all the previews on forums or blogs. However, I decided to give it a try anyways. After receiving the mask, I have to say, It was really hard to see it as the same mask as the photos posted by its models. I then realized that all it needs is some tender loving care, after all, there are no ugly women in the world, only lazy.
So let's go, let's be creative!
Huge difference right? This is what's amazing about the Moon mask, you can basically create any looks or even facial expressions you want through the magic of makeup.
Aesthetic:
Base Look (kind of scary without makeup) The eyes are reflective to lights and look very realistic to real human eyes. Lips were, well, normal color of lips.
With Make Up (Mascara and Smoked eyes) Can easily be cleansed off and changed at any time.
Quality:
It feels soft and thin. Silicone based with a little bit of stickiness (not sticky like glue or anything). Hugs the face very well but not too tight. (I feel like I'm introducing some type of facial product! )
Sight / Vision:
I had no problems to see through the mask. It almost looked like I was wearing specialized contact lens that enlarges pupils after putting on makeup on the mask. The reflections on the eye balls themselves made it look even more realistic.
Other previews had mentioned that padding was required in order to put the mask on for a slug fit, I did not find that to be a problem for me. I did not experience any sort of discomfort around the eyes as well.
Eyebrows:
I chose artificial planted eyebrows, there are of course other options to choose from. Note: You should trim and tweeze the eyebrows before penciling them.
Eyelashes (Top):
There is an option to have top eyelashes planted in when initially making the purchase of the mask. I didn't choose that option because I wanted to change the looks of the mask anytime I wanted to. There are no options for bottom lashes so you would have to stick them on yourself.
Nose:
No problems breathing in and out. The soft silicone makes it easy to fit onto my own nose without putting pressure on it.
Lips:
Slit open to separate the top and bottom lips. Lips on the mask did fit well onto my own lips.
How to wear the mask:
The mask is a half mask, meaning it does not have a back. To wear it, adjust the elastic bands to make it fit onto your face. You do not have to adjust it really tight as the mask will fit most thanks to its soft silicone material and natural stickiness. The mask will stretch to cover your ears. It will not put pressure on your ears to make them uncomfortable.
I truly believe that Mr. X Moon Mask will be one of the top picks of female masks in the market. There should be more varieties of this mask in the future. There is however one minor design flaw that I noticed which is the forehead. Make sure to pay attention when wearing a wig on the mask that the forehead is not caved in, or else it would be quite embarrassing. I will be working on a solution to eliminate this problem in the near future. All in all, I give this mask a 5 stars seal of approval.
